Are You an Artist, Manager/Leader or Entrepreneur?

Pat’s mentor, Tony Robbins, teaches in his Business Mastery programs that there are 3 type of Business People. While everyone has the traits of all of these, each person is primarily one. By knowing the type you are, then you can ADD the other types to complement your skills and thus, build your business. Which one are you? Read below.

Tony Robbins teaches at his Business Mastery event that one of the biggest stresses in your business life is trying to be someone that you are not. Many of us would like to think we’re entrepreneurs, but are we?

Tony recommends the key is that we must know WHO we are as a business owner. Once you know this you can then focus on two successful things:

Focus ONLY on your strength
Find partners, employees or consultants who COMPLEMENT and POSSESS the traits you DO NOT have. When you identify WHO you are as a business owner, you will be able to find people of other types; a combination which will result in more free time to be innovative which will lead to brilliant business success.

The three types of business owners Tony describes are:

Artist/Producer:

You have an extraordinary talent or skill that sets you above the rest.

Manager/Leader :

You love to manage people, watch those systems, monitor, make it happen on a daily basis. That’s what you live for.

Entrepreneur:

You live to create a start-up, to put a system together. You love to pull together a team of talented people and you take the big risks.

Key: Only work on your nature. Otherwise, doing the role of other types creates unnecessary stress AND is not aligned with your strengths.

One of the quickest ways to find out which type you are would be to ask yourself this question:

If you were to lose your job/business today and had to get a new job tomorrow because if you didn’t, you’d lose your house, car, etc., what would you do? Would you get a role applying your learned skill/trade (Artist), would you get a management role where you were leading people (Manager/Leader) or would you not worry about losing you house, car and possessions and instead get a loan from the bank and do it all again (Entrepreneur)?

Neither Type is better than the other, and most people have some of all of them but one of these traits will be far more dominant in you than the other two. To grow a successful business that will reach its full potential you need a leadership team who each dominate in one of these types, so that as a collective you have experts in all 3.
